Our Story
The Dog Stop was founded after years of research into the pet care industry and conversations with local dog owners who wanted something better—greater transparency, more consistent care, and a truly all-inclusive environment for their pets. From that insight came a simple vision: create a safe, engaging place where dogs love to come and play, and where pet parents feel complete confidence in the care their dogs receive. That vision became reality in 2009 with the opening of the first The Dog Stop® location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since then, the mission has remained the same—to deliver a superior pet care experience built on safety, trust, and genuine care for every dog and their family. Each location is committed to providing enriching environments, anticipating client needs, and ensuring peace of mind through reliable, high-quality service. Today, The Dog Stop® has grown to more than 40 locations across nineteen states, with additional locations coming soon. While each facility is locally owned and operated, every location is built on the same foundation of standards, values, and care established by the original team. At its core, The Dog Stop® exists to support pet parents with comprehensive, trustworthy care solutions—making it easier to give dogs a happy, healthy, and well-cared-for life.
